aLISON MACKIE
Alison Mackie is a 20-year-old Canadian cross-country skier and Olympian who took her first strides on skis at just 2 years old, shortly after taking her first steps. Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, Alison spent every winter weekend skiing with her family, quickly falling in love with the sport. After her first race at age 7, she knew exactly where her passion lay.
Committed to seeing how far she could go, Alison's dedication launched her career forward. In 2022, she became National Aggregate Champion with four podiums, earning a spot on the National Development Team. The following year, she represented Canada at her first World Junior Championships, finishing as the top Canadian in every race.
After high school, Alison moved to Canmore to train full-time. She raced her first World Cups in 2024, and her breakthrough 2024–2025 season brought two World Junior Championship bronze medals, making her the first Canadian woman on the podium since 1989, along with a spot on the World Ski Championships team and multiple top-30 World Cup results.
The past year has been her biggest leap yet: Alison qualified for her first Olympics, became the 2026 U23 World Ski Champion, and won the U23 Overall World Cup, delivering her strongest World Cup performances to date. Her journey is built on passion, resilience, and the belief that she is only just getting started.
