GILLIAN GOWLING
Gillian Gowling is a Canadian biathlete whose connection to winter sport began early, growing up surrounded by the trails and training culture of Canmore, Alberta. She first learned to ski as a young child and quickly gravitated toward the challenge and precision of biathlon. By the time she entered her first races, she had already developed the calm focus and competitive spark that would define her career.
Determined to see how far she could push herself, Gillian rose steadily through the junior and development ranks. She earned multiple starts on the international circuit, representing Canada at the Youth and Junior World Championships, where she established herself as a disciplined shooter and a powerful skier. Her progression continued as she moved into senior racing, earning IBU Cup opportunities and contributing to Canada’s relay teams on the world stage.
After graduating high school, Gillian committed fully to high‑performance sport, training year‑round with Biathlon Canada’s national program. Her development seasons brought consistent improvements in ski speed, shooting accuracy, and race execution, leading to breakthrough performances on the IBU Cup and strong domestic results that solidified her place among Canada’s top biathletes.
Outside of biathlon, Gillian is an avid gravel and road cyclist — a passion that fuels her endurance, sharpens her training, and reflects the same love of movement and challenge that first drew her to sport. Whether climbing long mountain passes or exploring backcountry gravel, cycling has become a defining part of her athletic identity.
